I had to think of something for you guys to comment on. I've asked for guesses on my new pet (which turned out to be Skinny Mini), and book recommendations in past giveaways (ok, the only 2 giveaways I've ever done on this blog). This time, I wasn't sure what to ask you about, then I thought, Hey! Why don't I get my readers to ask ME something!
So that's the challenge, folks, and the only thing you need to do in order to qualify for the giveaway prize(s). Ask me anything (within reason, of course...Mom & Dad read this blog too!): questions about life in France, (my) pets, French men (I'm not claiming to be an expert), travel, Canada, etc. You can even ask me what my favourite colour is, but I'll beat you to it and tell you it's green.
I'll be on sick leave starting next Monday for at least 2 weeks (minor foot surgery) and will literally have all the time in the world to read through your questions. I haven't done a video post in a while, so I think I'll answer your questions in video format (from the comfort of my couch and with my poor foot propped up in a special orthopedic shoe) and post it up with the announcement of the winner at the same time.
And what's the prize, you're asking? Well, I have a really great book to give away, along with some other goodies that will remain a surprise until the winner is chosen (a few things from Thailand and something more local and delightfully delicious).
This is the book:
I bought it back in January while I was in Canada, took it with me here to France, then carried it along to Thailand. This book has literally been across the world! It features stories by women who have travelled to remote places and had memorable and amazing experiences. Each short, non-fiction essay features a recipe (food or drink) at the end from the country featured in the story. I really enjoyed each woman's essay, and learned a lot of interesting facts about cultures around the globe. There are hilarious essays, sad ones, passionate ones, and eye-opening ones. Female Nomad and Friends comes highly recommended, and I'm excited to share the book with the winner of my giveaway.
It'll be a busy week for me with work and running around before Monday's surgery (general anaesthetic...ugh), so the giveaway will run until next Tuesday, July 17th. You have until then to leave me your pressing questions in the comments of this post in order to enter. When I'm feeling well enough to
Looking forward to your questions, and if
Good luck!

That book looks really good! So my question is this--if you could get another pet (you had the right home, the right yard, the right time in your life, etc...) what, specifically (breed, size, name, gender!) would it be?
Pick me, pick me! Sooo, I like this idea(book or no book) of asking you a question and you doing a video response so here she goes...
This is a question I ponder myself quite often when I'm feeling homesick:
What are the top 5 things you love about France?
I almost said 10...but that sounds like a lot! Looking forward to hearing your answer!
Cool idea!!
What are you most looking forward to during the London Olympic Games??
RJL (who has already booked a table at Fresco's in anticipation of your next visit home) :)
I was just thinking of the author the other day when someone asked me what some of my travel books where. Her first book, Tales of a Female Nomad was one of the first travel memoirs I read, so she'll always have a place in my heart. I didn't know she had a new book out.
Sex Lives of Cannibals (and all his other books except the last one) are really funny.
Ok, my question.
If you had known how hard is was to live in another country, would you have done it anyway? I mean, I'm glad I'm here and survived, but if someone told me what the first year was going to entail, I'm not sure I would have had the courage to go through with it.
From what I've read on your blog I get the idea that you don't want kids (the human kind :-p) - although you have lots of animal bebes!
I was curious as to how you came to that decision...was it early in life...later...why exactly?
If it's too personal - no worries - just something I wondered about.

I was the first one here a couple days ago, and everyone knows the first comment never wins, so I had to remember to come back. Then I forgot, and then I remembered again, and now here I am! It's all fascinating, I know.
Sooo....if you could keep any animal in the world as a pet, assuming legality and ethics were non-issues...what would it be?
If you could live anywhere in France, where would it be?
When you talk about canada and how homesick you are it always seems like a hopeless situation? Is there any chance you'll move back to Canada with Max?
Sorry to hear about your foot, chicky!!! Most of the questions I had have already been asked above, but I too wonder if your time in France has an expiration date!
When I was living in France, I found that I missed silly things that I didn't even like while living in the US. I'd like to know what you miss about Canada, excluding friends and family.
Good luck with your foot.
Hi Crystal, my question is, what is the biggest difference between France and Canada in your opinion? And also (cheeky 2nd question!) where would be a good place to go on holiday in Canada? Good luck with your operation. Sally xx
Hi! I can't wait to win! :) Questions...hmm... What other places in the world do you want to visit? Would you ever choose to move to another country (not Canada or France)?
Hey, glad to see that your surgery went well!
Planning any trips back to Canada in the near future? And will Max be coming with you?
Miss you and hope to see you soon.

Hey Crystal!
This is Shelly and I'm glad to see that you got out of Paris and you are doing well!
Your new dog is so cute and I miss the fat cats!
To update you a bit about my life, I decided not to pursue the assistantship program in France and I'm going to Shanghai, China instead to teach English! Which leads me to my question"
What was your favorite things to do while in Thailand (I really want to go while I'm in China) Do you have any ideas to recommend?
Good luck with the surgery and have une bonne nuit!
